From Generation to Generation

Cadence had the privilege of meeting my Granny Ladshaw this weekend. She will turn 90 this year on August 28.

These are 4 generations of hands: my dad, Bill Ladshaw, age 63, me, Jordan Ladshaw Blanton, age 31, my grandmother, Granny Ladshaw, age 90, and my daughter, Cadence Blanton, age 6 weeks.

The four generations.

I pray that Cadence would grow to love the Lord as much as Granny Ladshaw does and be faithful to Him, following in the footsteps of the generations that have gone before her.

Cadence weighed in at 7 lbs 4oz this week at her 6 week check up. She has grown to 20 inches long and is now wearing newborn sizes!

First Bath

Here is the story of Cadence's first bath:

I'm not really sure what is up with the male-patterned hair loss but Cadence and I are both protesting Jody's suggestions to just shave it off!

Went to my first Waterfall! Didn't see it; but went to it!

We drove an hour to fulfill Daddy's longing to see a waterfall. He misses his waterfalls where he lived before.
Momma is gorgeous, at least that is what daddy always says.
Honey Bee found the view at the bottom to be good enough and waited on us there. Mommy and Honey stopped here to see this view because they didn't realize daddy's adventure would make them walk so much and up so many steps to see a waterfall. This is what I would have seen but something was hindering me from this. Read on and you'll find out.
This is what daddy came to see. Beautiful huh?! He loved it but was a bit disappointed that he could not jump off or swim around. Creation cries out in praise to our God!
Hey, where is my picture? And what are you guys looking at?
What great parents I have. I got put in the bottom of aunt Katherine's tote bag!! I didn't see the waterfall but I had a great nap!

Meet the Grandparents though none of them want to be called Grandparents!!

Truthfully, I will get called whatever my little Cadence fancies to call me, but for now, you can call me "Honey Bee." You'll understand when you see what Barbara wants to be called.
What does the name "Grandma" mean anyway? I would prefer a much sweeter name, like "Honey." Don't you like the ring of that!
Who's excited to have her first grandchild? Mae Mae is!! This name will be the easiest to say when Cadence starts talking and actually this is the name for mother in the local language where Cadence will be living.
Look, I don't mind being a little traditional with a twist. The name is "Granpuh." No "d" and no "pa." (Gran-puh). Granpuh is good for a nice long nap. Comfy and just the right curvature. Been working on this for a long time for Cadence.

5th Anniversary

Happy 5th Anniversary mommy and daddy!! Which one is sweeter? Me or the cake Honey bought you? What a wonderful 5th Anniversary on July 23 to celebrate with a 3 week old baby!! My wife is the jewel in my crown and my daughter is the arrow in my quiver. (Not random things but both from scripture.)

Don't blink, tomorrow I'll be walking!

Just a few minutes after I was born on July 4.
Just 3 days old.
Day 8.
Can you guess how many days? 19 days old and getting cuter!!
