Fun in the Park

This is a new park that has just opened in the mountains about 45 minutes from our house. We stop here on the way to and from the capital city to enjoy the cool air and break up the 3 hour car ride. Lately we have been making the trek to the capital city twice a week as we prepare to move into our new house.

Last week on our trip, a tree fell down right in front of our car so Jody got out and helped clear the road so that the cars and motorcycles could pass again.

Sumo Cadence

Here is Cadence's interpretation of a Sumo wrestler. This was taken in December...still working on getting something recent!

We found a house

He has provided a place for us to "land" and we have signed a 3 year lease on a house in our old city. The house is 3 years old, and will need a kitchen and bathroom before we can move in so right now we are very busy overseeing those improvements. We are expecting to move in the next month. Here's a quick tour...

This is the living room as you walk in the front door.

This is the bathroom, but we will replace the bucket with a sink and the blue latrine with an actual toilet.

This is where we will put our kitchen. Notice the existing kitchen sink in the far right hand corner about 1 foot off the ground. We'll have it raised so that Jody doesn't have to wash dishes on his knees every night.

This is one of my favorite parts: a courtyard off the kitchen.

This is where I will put my bath tub!

And this is Cadence's very own room! The house has 4 bedrooms, all the same size (9 ft square).

Nana and Cadence

This is our Nana (Jody's grandmother) singing "Jesus Loves Me" to Cadence last fall. Nana is in the hospital after a very bad fall. We love you Nana. Get well soon!

We have been teaching Cadence sign language for every day activities. Verbal skills are the last thing that a baby learns and we have hoped that being able to express herself with her hands will cut down on her frustration in communication. Until yesterday, she only gave us a blank stare when we would sign a word to her so we weren't sure if she was getting it. Then when she woke up and I set her on the ground to play, she signed "All done", indicating that she wanted to get up. Now every time we put her in the car seat, which she has detested since birth, she starts crying and signing "All done. All done." It makes us laugh. Here it is:

Silly Daddy put a burper on Cadence's head.

Cadence and her friends:

Cadence and her two new teeth! The better to bite you with!

Cadence is really enjoying baby food. Here she is wearing carrots:
Cool huh? Looks like Cadence is back in the womb but this time she brought a flashlight! If she needs calming down, the flashlight normally does the trick.
The verdict is still out: is Dad responsible or not? I mean, she could have fallen, right?
Johnny Jump Up works great everywhere! And no, she will not be allowed to be a table dancer when she gets older!
"All these taste like plastic! When will I get to try something other than tofu, rice cereal, avocado, banana, and carrot?!!
Just plain CUTE!
